Prerequisite: Completion of Basic Wood Working class

Course Overview:

Wood Academy’s Advanced Cabinet Making class is tailored for individuals who have completed the Basic Wood Working course and want to deepen their expertise in cabinet construction. This course focuses on advanced techniques, tools, and materials essential for creating high-quality cabinets.

Course Highlights:

Materials:

• Utilize 3/4″ plywood for constructing the carcass, drawers, and cabinet doors.

Joinery Techniques:

• Join components using nails, glue, and screws for robust construction.
• Employ jigs, specifically the KREG brand, for precise and efficient joinery.

Finishing Techniques:

• Use PYE wood filler to patch and cover nail holes and edge grains, ensuring a smooth and professional finish.

Practical Application:

1. Project Planning and Design:
   • Design your cabinet, considering dimensions, materials, and joinery methods.
   • Plan the layout and assembly process for efficient construction.
2. Working with 3/4″ Plywood:
   • Hands-on training in handling and cutting 3/4″ plywood accurately.
   • Techniques for constructing the carcass, drawers, and cabinet doors.
3. Advanced Joinery:
   • Practice joinery methods using nails, glue, and screws to create sturdy cabinets.
   • Utilize KREG jigs for precise joinery, ensuring all parts fit perfectly.
4. Tool Usage:
   • Learn to use specialized cabinet-making tools, including saws, drills, and jigs.
